Choosing between Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets for ski lessons starts with the journey from your accommodation to the instructor. A village address, a lift station and an on-snow meeting point can be different places. Compare the exact course and its daily access before committing to a base for your holiday.
| Base | Accommodation and access | Meeting point to confirm | Family and lesson check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morzine | Match your address to the correct sector: Pléney or an Avoriaz-bound start. | ESi Morzine lists groups at the bottom of Pléney and private lessons at the top. | Can you manage each learner’s drop-off and collection, including any lift access? |
| Avoriaz | A pedestrian resort at 1,800 metres: plan arrival and the route from your accommodation. | New Generation groups meet at the top of Prodains Express; confirm your school’s exact point. | Can the whole party reach its agreed meeting point without relying on skiing there? |
| Les Gets | Check your address against the village snow front and the Chavannes gondola. | Courses can assemble in the village or above Chavannes. Confirm top or bottom. | Where does the beginner course actually teach, and which pass does it require? |
Use the table to narrow your enquiries, then read the operator examples below. A school’s office address may differ from its lesson meeting point.
Morzine: Separate Pléney from Super Morzine
Pléney and Super Morzine serve different starting plans. Morzine’s official skiing information describes beginner terrain in the Pléney sector and access towards Avoriaz via Super Morzine or Prodains. When a listing says ‘Morzine’, ask which sector the lesson uses and where you must meet before the teaching begins.
Even one school can use different meeting points. ESi Morzine’s practical information places its group meeting point at the bottom of the Pléney gondola and its private lesson meeting point at the top. Treat that as an example from this operator, rather than a rule for every Morzine school.
Before choosing accommodation, give the school its exact address and ask for the route to your course. If adults and children have different lessons, check whether both drop-offs are realistic. For a wider look at lesson types and school selection, read our Morzine ski school guide. Include that address, your dates and each learner’s age and experience in the lesson request when contacting a school through Find a Ski School.

Avoriaz: Plan Access within the Pedestrian Resort
Avoriaz’s official arrival guide describes a vehicle-free resort, with its entrance reception area at 1,800 metres. Cars remain in designated parking areas. If you arrive with children, luggage and equipment, agree the route to your accommodation with your host before planning the first lesson morning.
The tourist office’s learning guide identifies the Plateau as a beginner area and also describes the Proclou/Super Morzine sector. Those names help you ask specific questions, but they do not identify every school’s meeting point. For example, New Generation’s Avoriaz group instructions specify the top of the Prodains Express.
Staying in Morzine and taking lessons in Avoriaz can involve an additional access journey. Ask the school to confirm a route suitable for your party’s actual ability, the pass needed to reach the meeting point and its plan if access is disrupted. Do not build a beginner’s first morning around skiing between bases. Use the Find a Ski School resort pages to check the weather forecast and available snow information for your chosen base before travelling, including when the information was updated.
Les Gets: Confirm Which Chavannes Meeting Point
Les Gets Tourism says courses commonly assemble in the village centre or at the top of the Chavannes gondola. This makes ‘near Chavannes’ an incomplete accommodation check: find out whether your course starts below the lift or above it.
One concrete village-level example is New Generation’s group meeting point, beside the Chavannes Express chairlift and Chavannes gondola. The operator distinguishes reaching that meeting point from having the pass required for the lesson. Separately, the lift operator describes Mappys as a beginner learning area reached from the top of the gondola, with pedestrian access.
Ask whether your beginner course uses the village snow front, Mappys or another agreed area. ESF Les Gets lists adult group teaching for beginners and improving skiers; confirm the group suited to your level rather than choosing from the meeting location alone.

Compare the Whole Lesson Morning
Once you have a suitable course in each base, request the same practical information. Keep the replies together so you can see where an apparently convenient option adds another lift, equipment collection or separate family handover. For a named-instructor starting point, explore Billy C. and the associated BillSki profile on Find a Ski School. Billy lists travel to Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets; confirm the resort, lesson format and requested instructor when enquiring, because a school-listed lesson does not guarantee a particular teacher.
- Door to meeting point: record the exact start location, how to reach it with equipment, any transport or lift dependency and the arrival time requested by the school.
- Lesson fit: confirm each learner’s age, starting ability, language, teaching hours and group arrangements. Explain support or access requirements before booking.
- Collection and non-skiers: ask where the lesson ends, who handles children’s handover and what access a non-skiing adult needs.
- Full cost and terms: separate tuition from equipment, lift access and any childcare. Ask what happens if the access lift or the lesson cannot operate.
Our ski lesson cost guide explains how to compare teaching time and inclusions. Families can also use the parent planning guide when organising learners with different needs.
