How do I use the AI School Finder?

Describe the school you want in plain language — the AI applies the matching filters for you and ranks a shortlist of schools by how well they fit.

Quick answer

Open the Schools Directory at /schools, tap Ask AI (or go to /schools?ai=open), and describe what you want in plain language. The AI applies the matching filters and shows a ranked shortlist.

How do I use the AI School Finder?

The AI School Finder is a mode on the Schools Directory. Open /schools and tap Ask AI at the top of the filter rail — or go straight to /schools?ai=open.

Describe the school you want

Type what you're looking for in plain language. The more detail, the better the match. A few examples that work well:

  • "English-speaking ski school for kids in the French Alps"
  • "Snowboard lessons for beginners in Whistler"
  • "Advanced off-piste guiding in Chamonix"
  • "Group ski lessons for teenagers in Italy"
  • "Private instructor for first timers in Japan"

If you'd rather speak than type, tap the microphone icon next to the input and describe what you're looking for.

What the AI actually does

When you submit, the AI reads your query and applies the matching filters to the directory for you — country, activity, level, language, age range, and so on. You see the results the same way you'd see them if you'd ticked the filters by hand, with two additions:

  1. Top Picks at the top of the results, ranked by how well each school matches your query, with a short explanation of why the AI picked each one.
  2. A summary line showing which filters the AI applied, so you can see its reasoning and adjust if it missed something.

You can keep tweaking the filters afterwards — the AI doesn't lock anything. If the AI misreads your query, tap Clear AI to return the filter rail to exactly how it was before.

Saving your search

If you've run a query worth coming back to — a trip you're planning for next season, a school you're still deciding on — tap Save next to the results. Saved searches live at /saved-searches and re-run with one tap. See how to save a search for later [blocked].

When to use the AI Finder vs the filter rail

Use the AI Finder when your requirements are specific and narrative — "school that works with nervous beginners and runs lessons in small groups". Use the filter rail when you know exactly what you want to toggle — country, activity, language. Both feed the same result set, so you can switch between them however it suits you.
