How do private assistant preview links work?

An Admin-issued one-time preview link enables the assistant in one browser for a limited period without granting account permissions or free unlimited use.

Quick answer

Open the preview link in the browser you intend to use. It works in that browser until expiry or revocation, subject to AI consent, normal account permissions, allowances, credits and security limits.

How do private assistant preview links work?

An administrator may provide a private preview link when ordinary public assistant access is off. This enables the assistant for testing; it does not create an account or grant access to private school, instructor or Admin records.

Open the link in your intended browser

The link has a single browser-bound redemption. Opening it exchanges the capability for the signed HttpOnly fass_assistant_preview cookie in that browser. The link fragment is removed before normal analytics/error reporting. Do not share the link or paste it into chat, support messages or public documents.

The administrator chooses an expiry from 1 to 72 hours; the normal default is 24 hours. Access can also be revoked sooner. Use the preview controls to end access when finished. If the link has expired, was revoked or was already used in another browser, ask the administrator for a new one.

Normal protections still apply

You must still accept AI & Chatbot processing before chatting and deliberately start the microphone for voice. Signing in uses your real account permissions. Guest allowances, configured account rates and credits, conversation limits and security checks still apply. A preview link does not renew free time or waive charges.

The cookie identifies the requested preview, not an elevated account role. Server grant metadata contains token/browser hashes, a label and timestamps rather than the raw link token. Expired or revoked grants are removed after 24 hours by maintenance. The Cookie Policy explains this access/security storage separately from the memory-only conversation history.
