Quick answer

Use Lessons → Student progress for account-linked learners and Lesson notes for teaching records. Review sharing permissions; not every note is visible to every future instructor.

How do I track student progress and lesson notes?

Open Lessons → Student progress and search for the account-linked learner. The hub brings together the progress and lesson information your school is authorised to access. Use Lesson notes or All notes for records that are not linked to an account.

After teaching

Record what was covered, progress, and what to practise next. Where voice capture or AI assistance is available, review the transcription and proposed assessment before saving. Check the learner and booking before sharing a note or marking skills complete.

Level frameworks and manoeuvres help structure progress. A self-reported level, an AI suggestion, and an instructor's assessment are different kinds of information; confirm placement with the learner on snow.

External lessons and certificates

The external/off-platform note tools let authorised users record lessons outside a FASS booking. Keep their origin clear and do not treat imported or self-entered notes as independently verified awards.

Use the certificate action for a demonstrated achievement. See issuing certificates for recipient and sharing checks.

Sharing

Notes and progress are private records governed by the learner relationship, school or instructor permissions, guardian links, and the relevant sharing controls. Teaching a learner later does not automatically mean unrestricted access to every historic note from every school.

Check the recipient and visibility before sharing. Keep operational chat in Messages, and put formal teaching observations in the appropriate learner record.
