How do I choose a ski school for my child?

The /for-parents page pulls together everything you need — how to compare school status and evidence, the age-group guide for choosing lessons by age, practical safety questions, and the steps from search to slopes.

Quick answer

Open /for-parents for age-specific guidance and practical safety questions. Check the provider’s evidence, suitability, and booking or request option.

How do I choose a ski school for my child?

The /for-parents page brings together the things that matter most when you're booking for children — an age-group breakdown, practical safety questions, and a clear step-by-step from search to your first booked lesson. Here's what to focus on.

Pick by age first

Every age group has different needs, and the page includes an age guide with specific tips for each:

  • Toddlers (3–4) — short sessions, lots of play, familiar instructors, parent close by.
  • Young children (5–7) — small groups, patient instructors, reward-based progression.
  • Older children (8–12) — longer sessions, more technical focus, opportunities to ski with friends.
  • Teenagers (13+) — mixed adult/teen groups often work well; look for schools offering freestyle or all-mountain coaching.

Matching the school to the age group matters more than matching it to the resort — a great school with the wrong approach for your child's age is still the wrong booking.

Look for the Verified badge

Read the label beside a verification badge. A school's current verification status is separate from an instructor's approved application and from verified-school affiliation. The status does not by itself confirm business registration, instructor certifications, insurance or safety practices. See what the Verified badge means.

Safety to expect

Ask the provider directly about instructor qualifications and insurance, ratios for young children, helmet expectations, meeting points, emergency procedures and how to make contact during the day. Rely on evidence-specific details where they are shown rather than inferring these practices from a verification-status label.

Book ahead in peak season

School holidays are the busy weeks — February half-term, Christmas, Easter. Good schools fill up months in advance for those dates. If you're skiing at peak times, book earlier than you think you need to.

How you'll stay informed during lessons

Use your account and the correct child profile when booking. Your dashboard shows the child's linked lessons and recorded feedback where you have access. Message the school or booked instructor for non-urgent questions; call the school for anything urgent. See how the parent dashboard works and how to message your child's instructor.

The four steps

From the For Parents page, the journey is simple: search schools that teach children at your resort, read reviews from other parents, follow the school’s booking or request option, and check its confirmation and meeting instructions before the day. For an online payment, your card payment is made to the school's own Stripe account, and Find a Ski School's commission is collected from it as a Stripe application fee. Find a Ski School never holds your payment and does not operate a stored-value wallet or escrow service.

No booking fees for skiers and learners, ever.
