Snowboarding · Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- The national pathway covers beginner through advanced snowboarders. The September 2026 Level III standards specifically address advanced students on expert black and double-black terrain, and medium freestyle features.
- A snowboard Level III award does not record Alpine ski certification or automatically confer a trainer, examiner, or education-staff appointment.
- An ISIA credential needs its own evidence; a Level III record alone does not show that a current ISIA Stamp or Card has been issued.
- This is a national instructor certification. It does not establish local professional recognition, immigration permission, or permission to operate independently in another country.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- Develop advanced riding and teaching experience beyond Level II and follow the region's current Level III assessment requirements.
- The national snowboard certification ladder ends at Level III. Further instructor-development and education-staff routes are separate.
- Check current membership, teaching-experience, preparation, and assessment-entry requirements with the PSIA-AASI region delivering the event. Booking a course or attending preparation does not by itself establish that the full certification has been awarded.
- The national overview requires current membership and at least six continuing education units each membership year to maintain certified status. An historic certificate alone does not establish that those ongoing requirements are current.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Checked the national certification overview and its linked standards, internally dated September 2026. The standards describe more detailed terrain ranges than the overview; this guide uses those published standards. Regional assessment prerequisites and continuing membership requirements still apply.
