Snowboarding · Australian Professional Snowsport Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- The published teaching focus is advanced lessons for adults and children. Training develops teaching, movement analysis, steering, carving, freeriding, freestyle and demonstrations.
- The full certification requires every assessed component, including teaching, freeriding, demonstrations, freestyle, racing, movement analysis and theory. Completion of a course or one component is not the complete award.
- APSI describes further pathways towards trainer and management roles; Level 4 alone does not establish a trainer appointment or a separately issued international credential.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- Entry includes current membership, employment by an APSI-approved snowsports school, full Snowboard Level 3 or approved prior learning, and at least two full-time teaching seasons.
- Candidates complete both five-day training blocks before the exam, with at least 150 teaching hours and 30 additional in-house training hours. APSI introduced competency-based freestyle assessment in 2026; consult its current specification for completing that component and arranging resits.
