Les Karellis is a family-friendly ski resort nestled in the Maurienne Valley of the French Alps, within the commune of Montricher-Albanne in the Savoie department.

Established in 1975, the resort is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere, affordability, and comprehensive facilities catering to all ages and skill levels.

Skiing and Facilities

The resort offers a diverse ski area with 60 kilometers of slopes, accommodating various proficiency levels:

  • 6 green runs for beginners
  • 7 blue runs for intermediate skiers
  • 12 red runs for advanced enthusiasts
  • 4 black runs for experts

These 29 pistes are serviced by 17 ski lifts, including 9 surface lifts and 6 chairlifts, ensuring efficient access to the slopes. The ski area spans elevations from 1,550 meters to 2,495 meters, providing varied terrains and stunning alpine vistas.

For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, Les Karellis offers 30 kilometers of groomed trails, allowing visitors to explore the serene landscapes of the Maurienne Valley. Additionally, the resort features a snowpark, boardercross, and a dedicated children’s area, ensuring a comprehensive experience for all guests.

Accommodation and Services

Les Karellis is distinctive for its cooperative management model, with accommodations primarily comprising seven holiday villages operated by associations. This structure enables the resort to offer attractive all-inclusive packages, making it a popular choice for families and groups. The accommodations provide a total capacity of 2,500 beds, with options ranging from full-board services to self-catering gîtes.

The resort also boasts a variety of amenities, including restaurants, shops, equipment rental services, a tourist office, and a French Ski School (ESF), ensuring visitors have access to all necessary services during their stay.

Access and Additional Activities

Located above Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Les Karellis is accessible via the A43 motorway, with Chambéry approximately an hour’s drive away, and Grenoble and Annecy reachable within an hour and a half. The nearest train station is in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, from which shuttle services operate to the resort.

Beyond winter sports, Les Karellis offers a range of summer activities, including hiking, mountain biking, archery, heated swimming pools, adventure courses, horse riding, mini-farms, climbing, tennis, mini-golf, rollerblading, and Segway tours. These activities allow visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the Alps throughout the year.
