How do I use messages and lesson offers?

Use the inbox for provider conversations, saved messages, replies, groups, and lesson offers, with separate controls for AI context and reporting.

Quick answer

Open Messages in your dashboard. Use each message’s menu to reply, save, or report, and review any lesson offer before accepting or paying.

How do I use messages and lesson offers?

Open Messages in your learner dashboard, or the Messages section of your school or instructor dashboard. Choose a conversation. A school profile's Message this school control can start a relevant conversation.

Write, reply, and save

Use the formatting toolbar for bold, italic, underline, bullets, or numbered lists. The Pressing Enter will setting chooses whether Enter sends or starts a new line; follow the shortcut hint beside the editor. Typing dots indicate someone is composing, not that a message has been sent.

Open a message's menu to Reply with a quote, view its replies in a thread, or Save it. Saved is your own shortcut list in that conversation; saving does not publish it or extend your access if you later leave the conversation.

Where available, the overview beside the conversation shows the school's public profile and lesson information or permitted learner details. It does not give a provider unrestricted access to a learner's account.

On a narrow screen, open Conversation overview to reach people, lesson offers and the separate AI-context control. On a wide screen, those tools can appear beside the messages.

Group conversations

Use People in this conversation where you have permission to invite another FASS account. The invited person accepts in their inbox. By default, new members see messages sent after they join.

Sharing earlier history requires approval from all previous contributors and existing participants. Requesting history access is not the same as receiving it. Review the recipient before approving, and remove access when it is no longer needed.

Lesson offers

A school or authorised provider can create an offer from its lesson catalogue and customise the details. Open the offer to review the lesson, learners, local date/time, total, terms, and expiry before accepting.

The action depends on the offer and provider: it may be Accept and pay or an acceptance that still requires scheduling/booking confirmation. Read the result and payment status. An offer, acceptance, and paid confirmation are different stages. Do not pay again if the status is unclear; ask the provider or support to check.

Optional AI context

The conversation's consent switch lets you allow an AI-assisted offer to use the chat and permitted profile details. Permission is specific to that conversation. You can withdraw it and use the account preference to disable this use everywhere. You can still discuss and arrange a lesson without granting AI context access.

The provider reviews suggestions before sending an offer, and you check the final offer before accepting. Consent does not authorise the AI to make a payment for you.

Spam, reports, and notifications

Use the message menu to report a message with a reason and explanation. Other requires details. You can also mark the conversation as spam using the available controls. Reports go to the moderation queue; AI can assist triage, but a report does not automatically prove misconduct or guarantee an account ban.

Manage optional message emails in Notification preferences. Read-receipt preferences are separate; a viewed indicator does not mean the other person has acted on your request. Call the school for urgent lesson-day matters.
