What ski level am I?

Open Ski and snowboard levels. FASS's framework has nine levels: Bronze 1–3, Silver 1–3, and Gold 1–3. It is FASS's own framework, not an official governing-body standard; schools can use different scales.

The progression

• Bronze 1–3: first steps, gliding, stopping, and increasingly reliable snowplough turns.
• Silver 1–3: the progression through plough-parallel turns towards basic parallel skiing.
• Gold 1–3: increasingly consistent turns, carving, bumps, steeps, and adaptable control on marked terrain.

Read the full manoeuvres for a level instead of identifying it only by a piste colour. Trying an advanced activity or skiing fast does not demonstrate the required control. Off-piste safety and instructor qualifications are separate from this learner ladder.

Choose an honest starting point

The calculator asks about eight skills and gives an indicative level or range. It can also help compare an existing award with the FASS framework. Use what you can do repeatedly and comfortably; tell the school when you are unsure or returning after a long break.

Search and booking filters use broader labels such as First Timer, Beginner, and Intermediate. Their information icons explain them. The calculator's school-search link translates its result into those filters; an estimate is not an instructor sign-off.

Skiing and snowboarding progress are separate. An ability in one does not transfer automatically to the other. See tracking your progress.
