FASS Protect is the name for safeguards built into every booking: scoped verification-status labels, secure Stripe Connect payments, cancellation terms shown before payment, and a private reporting route. It is not insurance.
Quick answer
FASS Protect covers scoped verification-status labels, secure Stripe Checkout with an automatic provider transfer, the provider's cancellation policy shown before booking, and a private Report a concern route. It is free and is not insurance.
FASS Protect is the name for the safeguards that apply to every booking made through Find a Ski School. There's nothing to buy and nothing to opt into — it's free, automatic, and the same for every learner.
One thing to be clear about before anything else: FASS Protect is not an insurance policy, and Find a Ski School is not the lesson provider — your lesson contract is with the school. What FASS Protect does is make sure you know who you're booking with, pay securely, see the terms up front, and have somewhere real to turn if something is wrong.
It covers four things: who you're booking with, how you pay, what happens if plans change, and what happens if something goes wrong.
Read the label beside any verification badge. Find a Ski School distinguishes a school's current verification status, an instructor's approved application and an instructor's affiliation with a verified school. A status does not by itself confirm identity, qualifications, insurance, safeguarding, work rights or a live registry match. Evidence-specific checks appear separately only when the platform stores that capability. See what the Verified badge means [blocked].
Find a Ski School creates the online charge through Stripe Checkout. Stripe Connect then transfers the provider's share to its connected account after our stated commission. We do not operate a wallet or escrow service, but we do operate the charge and approved-refund flow. Your full card details never touch FASS servers. No FASS booking fee is added for learners. Every provider sets its own cancellation policy, and it is shown on the profile and at booking. A refund request is reviewed by the provider under that policy. If an online-payment refund is approved, the FASS backend creates it through Stripe to the original payment method; Stripe and the card issuer control when it appears. Most booking issues are resolved fastest by contacting the school directly — they're your counterparty and their details are on your booking confirmation. When that fails, or when something more serious is happening, use Report a concern [blocked]:

Find a Ski School is a marketplace — your lesson contract is with the school, not with us. FASS Protect is not an insurance policy, and it doesn't override a school's cancellation terms: we can't force a school to refund you outside the policy you accepted when booking, and we don't investigate the underlying facts of a dispute — where a report needs investigating, that is for the school and, where appropriate, the authorities.
