Terrain by Level

Beginners: Lower mountain with a gentle progression zone. The Christie Peak Express accesses the best beginner terrain. Lower elevation than Summit County means less altitude sickness.

Intermediates: Morningside Park and Sunshine Peak offer wide blue groomers through aspens. The tree skiing is legendary — widely spaced aspens hold Champagne Powder for days.

Choosing a Ski School

• Billy Kidd Performance Centre: Named after the Olympic medallist who still skis Steamboat daily. Clinics for intermediates and advanced skiers.
• Billy Kidd himself leads a complimentary daily mountain tour at 1pm. Free and extraordinary.

Insider Tips

• Soak in the hot springs. Old Town Hot Springs is public. Strawberry Park Hot Springs (15 min) is more secluded — adults only after dark.
• The town is separate from the resort — 10-minute free bus. Stay in town for character and value.
• Steamboat is on the Ikon Pass.
