BASI Cross-Country Level 2

The second BASI cross-country instructor qualification develops Classic and Skate technique, learner assessment, progression planning, and teaching across varied terrain and conditions.

Cross-country skiing · British Association of Snowsport Instructors

What This Qualification Covers

  • The discipline-specific course develops Classic and Skate performance and teaching, with learner analysis, lesson delivery, group management, and safety awareness. It does not substitute Alpine piste demonstrations for Nordic skills.
  • BASI's qualification overview describes further learner development under a snowsports school or club's responsibility. The course's reference to varied settings is not a universal off-trail or mountain-guiding permission.
  • Separate teaching and technical course descriptions distinguish delivering a lesson from the candidate's personal performance. An individual technical pass does not establish the complete teaching qualification.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • Entry requires BASI Cross-Country Level 1. The combined route and separate technical and teaching blocks are continually assessed; verify the full completion record with BASI.
  • Cross-Country Level 3 develops higher performance and professional teaching in both Classic and Skate. A Level 2 award does not establish the later ISIA qualification or any separately issued international credential.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
