What This Qualification Covers

  • The current qualification overview describes teaching from beginners to advanced learners and mentoring aspiring Level 1 and 2 instructors. That mentoring role is not proof of a BASI trainer or examiner appointment.
  • The separate course specifications cover both Classic and Skate, with performance analysis, race preparation and waxing, motivation, communication, and adapting to learner needs. Candidates must demonstrate competence in both techniques.
  • Race-related training and the candidate's personal performance are parts of this Nordic pathway. They do not establish Alpine coaching qualifications, unrestricted backcountry guiding, or automatic foreign professional recognition.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The teaching and technical courses each require BASI Cross-Country Level 2. The blocks can be taken separately; check both assessment results and the final complete qualification.
  • The public pathway identifies a Level 1 award in another snowsport as the second-discipline element of Level 3 ISIA. Confirm all current supporting requirements with BASI and verify any issued ISIA credential separately.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
