What This Qualification Covers

  • The current award overview describes teaching learners from beginner to advanced and supporting the development of aspiring Level 1 and 2 instructors. Mentoring competence is distinct from a current BASI trainer or examiner appointment.
  • The discipline's course specifications develop bumps, steeps, variable snow, teaching beyond basic parallel or Telemark turns, analysis, and learner management. On- and off-marked-piste course work does not remove local terrain, safety, or guiding restrictions.
  • Technical and teaching assessments are separately described. Personal performance across challenging terrain is not, on its own, evidence of completing the whole professional award or receiving an ISIA credential.

Training and Progression

  • The teaching and technical courses require BASI Telemark Level 2. BASI offers the blocks separately as well as together; verify both results and the complete qualification record.
  • The public pathway specifies a second discipline through a Level 1 award in another snowsport as part of Level 3 ISIA. Confirm the full current supporting requirements with BASI rather than treating one course or second-discipline pass as the complete award.
