What This Qualification Covers
- SSBS describes the Level 2 phase as developing safe, professional intermediate instruction through further technical and methodological work. Candidate 1 is only its first part.
- The currently linked route diagram describes ski Candidate 1 as technical training, intermediate lessons and a theory examination. The ordinary overview uses broader expert-instruction wording; that must not turn this partial module into the final instructor's teaching standing.
- This SSBS award is distinct from Swiss Snowsports' numbered awards. It does not demonstrate a federal professional certificate, an individual risk-activities permit or foreign work permission.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- The published entry requirements include the corresponding Rookie Coach award, valid first-aid evidence and the required course-year age. Confirm the current intake conditions directly with SSBS.
- Candidate 1 must be completed before Candidate 2. Preserve the part number on a profile or training record rather than recording either Candidate module as the completed Instructor Diploma.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Official source review
Official sources checked on .
SSBS's official ski and snowboard course/module pages, both instructor-entry pages and the dedicated RiskG route were read. Their separate discipline routes support the descriptions below. The ordinary overview calls a safety module Backcountry Basic, while the dedicated route diagram uses Freeride at that stage and places BC Basic Instructor later. Confirm the current module name and requirements with SSBS. The current diagram describes Candidate 1 as intermediate teaching and Candidate 2 as advanced teaching, while the ordinary overview uses expert-instruction wording in some module summaries. Course-day totals and prices also vary, so no aggregate duration or fee is asserted. SSBS training is distinct from Swiss Snowsports, federal certification and the actual risk-activities authorisation.
