SSBS Ski Rookie Coach

SSBS's entry ski-instructor stage starts with Rookie Coach theory on teaching and assessing level, before practical school experience and the Candidate modules. It is not the completed instructor diploma.

What This Qualification Covers

  • The ski entry page describes initial experience as a Rookie Coach within a ski school. The published Rookie summary covers theoretical teaching knowledge and level assessment; it does not define an unrestricted learner or terrain range.
  • SSBS asks entrants to be confident on red and black slopes in varied snow. That is an entry skiing/riding expectation, not the level of students that a new Rookie Coach is qualified to teach.
  • This SSBS award is distinct from Swiss Snowsports' numbered awards. It does not demonstrate a federal professional certificate, an individual risk-activities permit or foreign work permission.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • Complete the actual Rookie course and certification requirements, then gain school experience and progress through Candidate 1 and Candidate 2. Check the current practical and theory components with SSBS for the discipline concerned.
  • Candidate 1 has its own admission requirements, including the Rookie award and first aid. Later Instructor certification adds further assessment, safety and legal modules and practical teaching evidence.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

SSBS's official ski and snowboard course/module pages, both instructor-entry pages and the dedicated RiskG route were read. Their separate discipline routes support the descriptions below. The ordinary overview calls a safety module Backcountry Basic, while the dedicated route diagram uses Freeride at that stage and places BC Basic Instructor later. Confirm the current module name and requirements with SSBS. The current diagram describes Candidate 1 as intermediate teaching and Candidate 2 as advanced teaching, while the ordinary overview uses expert-instruction wording in some module summaries. Course-day totals and prices also vary, so no aggregate duration or fee is asserted. SSBS training is distinct from Swiss Snowsports, federal certification and the actual risk-activities authorisation.
