What This Qualification Covers

  • The published teaching competence develops individual lesson planning and delivery for beginner and advanced learners, with more demanding technical demonstrations and communication in a foreign language.
  • The Telemark assessment includes a controlled air with a Telemark landing, short turns, unprepared snow, skating, switch Telemark and carved turns. These technical tasks do not themselves authorise teaching in terrain requiring a risk-activities permit.
  • The scope belongs to the discipline actually assessed. A Level 2 result in one snowsport is not a Level 2 certificate in the other three disciplines.
  • A course level does not issue a cantonal risk-activities permit. Check the actual activity, terrain, completed safety training and applicable authorisation separately; foreign recognition and the right to work also require their own checks.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The standard route follows Level 1 and comprises Teaching and Technique 1, Teaching and Technique 2 and the Level 2 Assessment, with the required first-aid and foreign-language evidence. A single module result does not demonstrate the complete level.
  • The provisions permit entry to Telemark Teaching and Technique 2 after Teaching and Technique 1 in ski, snowboard or Nordic. This admission exception does not itself award Telemark Level 2.
  • Level 3 adds Law and Obligation, practical teaching experience, higher first-aid requirements, further teaching/technical assessment and Backcountry Basic Instructor. Check the actual completion record when progressing or transferring an older qualification.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

The official course model, level pages, 2025 transition guidance and implementing provisions Edition 1.1, 2026/27 were read. The provisions give separate technical assessments for ski, snowboard, Nordic and Telemark. This guide describes the current pathway; historical certificates require their own transition assessment. Course training and a cantonal risk-activities authorisation remain separate.
