Having lived in Morzine for several winters it is a world-class resort. The pistes are well-groomed and extensive, at the beginning and end of the season, it can miss a little snow due to the overall resort altitude. It is worth staying a little outside the center of town for a more relaxed atmosphere and avoiding the noisy nightlife.

The Good Life

Planning Your Ski Holiday in Morzine

The main ski season in Morzine runs from December to April, but the specific timing can vary depending on snow conditions. Accommodation in Morzine ranges from luxurious spa hotels to traditional Savoyard ski chalets and self-catering apartments. Many accommodations are conveniently located near the ski lifts, making it easy to get onto the slopes each morning. Hiring ski equipment is straightforward, with numerous ski hire shops available around the town. This resort offers great skiing opportunities, as well as plenty of restaurants that serve excellent dishes. Some of the restaurants that we recommend try to include La Chamade, where the chef creates menus with gourmet dishes that are based on regional products. You can also try local cheeses at the Savoyard cheese bar! The chalet hotel Le Tremplin is located on the slopes of Pléney and it offers comfortable ski accommodation, as well as lively après-ski events in its bar/brasserie The Place To Be. Bands and DJs regularly perform at this venue, making it the perfect place to let loose after a long day on the slopes.

Kids & Families

Morzine ski resort in France is perfect for families. It has earned the Famille Plus label, which reassures you that you and your family will be well-cared for in the resort. The younger members of the family will find great daycare at the Outa center, and for older children, there are lessons at many of the ski schools. The main one is the ESF Piou-Piou club. ESF does not always have a great reputation with child care but generally, their Piou-Piou club is ok as it is a confined small area. Morzine does have some ski slopes reserved only for children: the “Pingouins” slope with its small banked turns, a slalom course, and a tunnel accessible from the Nabor chairlift is always a great place for kids to learn and play. There’s also the “Zouzous” trail, in the Pléney area of the resort. It is a 2km-long ski route where children can spend a moment learning about the local flora and fauna whilst skiing. We feel that Morzine is deserving of the Famille Plus label that it has been given. Families can also enjoy plenty of other activities in and around Morzine. In the winter, there’s ice skating, sledding, snowmobiling, and even a visit to Santa’s grotto. And in the summer, there are hiking and biking trails, an outdoor pool, and a playground. With so much to do, Morzine is the perfect place to vacation with your family.
