Cross-country skiing · Australian Professional Snowsport Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- The course covers beginner teaching, class handling, safety, technical knowledge, personal skiing and demonstrations. Its published learner tasks include basic diagonal stride and moving, slowing, turning and stopping on gentle terrain.
- The standalone Level 1 equipment list specifies classic skis. APSI's separate combined Level 1–2 route includes further content and does not award Level 2 without its separate examination.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- The two-day course includes assessment. No previous teaching experience is required; candidates must be at least 15 and ski at an intermediate standard, including diagonal stride with weight shift.
- A four-day combined Level 1–2 course is available for suitably skilled candidates. Its Level 1 assessment occurs on day two, while Level 2 still requires a separate exam.
