Adaptive snowsport · New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance

What This Qualification Covers

  • The stated teaching context is the learners' slope. Training adapts progressions, techniques and equipment for physical, intellectual and sensory disabilities, including mono-ski, bi-ski, three-track, four-track, snowboard and visual-impairment situations.
  • Candidates develop equipment use, disability awareness, handling and support for helpers. This award builds on a main ski or snowboard qualification and is distinct from Adaptive Level 2's intermediate scope.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The four-day course requires associate or full membership and Ski or Snowboard Level 1, or an accepted foreign equivalent. Four volunteer sessions are also required: two supporting cognitive disabilities and two supporting physical disabilities or visual impairment.
  • Volunteer sessions may follow the course where opportunities were unavailable beforehand, but the certificate is withheld until they are complete. Assessment combines continuous course assessment with adaptive e-learning.
