What This Qualification Covers

  • The currently linked route diagram describes technical and jump training and advanced lessons within Candidate 2. The ordinary overview uses expert-instruction wording; neither description grants an independent permit for unrestricted terrain or the completed Instructor Diploma.
  • Candidate 2 follows Candidate 1 in the same discipline. Its theory and foreign-language examinations are separate pieces of evidence from the final Instructor examination and required practical teaching placements.
  • This SSBS award is distinct from Swiss Snowsports' numbered awards. It does not demonstrate a federal professional certificate, an individual risk-activities permit or foreign work permission.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The published prerequisite is completion of the corresponding Candidate 1. Check the actual module result rather than inferring it from course attendance.
  • The snowboard Instructor route then requires further final riding, teaching and specialist-knowledge assessment, first-responder evidence, Law and Obligations, the required Freeride/safety module and the P1 commercial teaching placement. Confirm the safety module's current name and requirements with SSBS.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Sources and Further Reading

Official source review

SSBS's official ski and snowboard course/module pages, both instructor-entry pages and the dedicated RiskG route were read. Their separate discipline routes support the descriptions below. The ordinary overview calls a safety module Backcountry Basic, while the dedicated route diagram uses Freeride at that stage and places BC Basic Instructor later. Confirm the current module name and requirements with SSBS. The current diagram describes Candidate 1 as intermediate teaching and Candidate 2 as advanced teaching, while the ordinary overview uses expert-instruction wording in some module summaries. Course-day totals and prices also vary, so no aggregate duration or fee is asserted. SSBS training is distinct from Swiss Snowsports, federal certification and the actual risk-activities authorisation.
