What This Qualification Covers
- SSBS identifies Instructor with RiskG as a further outcome beyond its piste-area Instructor Diploma. The dedicated route develops avalanche awareness, terrain and situation assessment, transceiver rescue, tour planning with ascents and practical group leadership.
- The provider describes this route as preparation for activities in terrain requiring risk-activities authorisation. A training certificate or this catalogue label alone does not establish that a person holds the current cantonal permit, meets its conditions or may lead a particular itinerary.
- This record concerns the snowboard route actually completed. It does not automatically establish the other snowsport's qualification, a federal professional certificate or a mountain-guide qualification.
- The provider distinguishes this snowsport route from the broader mountain-guide profession. Do not infer IFMGA status, glacier or mountaineering competence, or unrestricted access to every off-piste itinerary. Check the intended terrain and the actual permit with the competent authority.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- The currently linked route diagram requires the completed SSBS Instructor qualification, Freeride and Touring (BC Basic Instructor), off-piste practical experience and subsequent experience with that training before the final BC Specialist stage. The dedicated page and diagram should be checked for current intake requirements.
- The snowboard diagram additionally marks Snowboard Internship P2 as mandatory for the RiskG route as well as the federal-diploma route. This school teaching placement can include non-commercial teaching; it is separate from the off-piste internship and from P1 in the ordinary Snowboard Instructor route.
- BC Specialist includes planning and conducting tours and a practical examination. The preceding avalanche, rescue and planning work, practical experience and full Instructor qualification remain separate prerequisites; completing one course or attending without passing does not establish the complete route outcome.
- The ordinary course-overview pages still use different intermediate-stage names from the dedicated RiskG page and currently linked diagram. Confirm the current training record with SSBS rather than combining those summaries into a new module sequence or fixed total duration.
- After establishing the training result, verify the separate current authorisation, any conditions attached to it and the planned activity. Foreign recognition, immigration permission and a mountain-guide qualification are additional independent checks.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Official source review
Official sources checked on .
SSBS's dedicated RiskG page and its currently linked two-page ski/snowboard route PDF were read. The PDF metadata records creation and modification on 16 October 2026, but it has no printed publication or version date. The ordinary course summaries use different intermediate-stage names and inconsistent aggregate durations, so those are not combined into definitive requirements. The linked regulator page could not be read; no fresh review of legal permit conditions or an individual authorisation is claimed.
