SSBS Snowboard Instructor Diploma

The completed SSBS snowboard instructor qualification follows both Candidate modules and final assessment. SSBS describes this diploma as qualification for the piste area; regulated off-piste activity uses a further training and authorisation route.

What This Qualification Covers

  • The official course page identifies the final Instructor Diploma as its Level 3 outcome and explicitly distinguishes on-piste qualification from Instructor with RiskG. The ordinary diploma must not be used as evidence of that additional authorisation.
  • Final assessment covers technique, teaching and specialist knowledge. Jump and technical tasks form part of the assessment, but do not create a separate mountain-guide qualification.
  • This SSBS award is distinct from Swiss Snowsports' numbered awards. It does not demonstrate a federal professional certificate, an individual risk-activities permit or foreign work permission.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The snowboard route requires Candidate 2, first-responder evidence, the legal-responsibilities module, the required Freeride/safety module and P1 commercial teaching experience, followed by the final Instructor assessment. Confirm the safety module's current name and requirements with SSBS.
  • The further RiskG route lists Backcountry Specialist training and additional off-piste practice. The diploma, those training results and the actual authorisation are separate records to verify.
  • SSBS lists a separate federal-certificate pathway after snowboard Instructor training, with additional modules, practical evidence and the federal examination. The Instructor Diploma alone is not that federal award.

SSBS's official ski and snowboard course/module pages, both instructor-entry pages and the dedicated RiskG route were read. Their separate discipline routes support the descriptions below. The ordinary overview calls a safety module Backcountry Basic, while the dedicated route diagram uses Freeride at that stage and places BC Basic Instructor later. Confirm the current module name and requirements with SSBS. The current diagram describes Candidate 1 as intermediate teaching and Candidate 2 as advanced teaching, while the ordinary overview uses expert-instruction wording in some module summaries. Course-day totals and prices also vary, so no aggregate duration or fee is asserted. SSBS training is distinct from Swiss Snowsports, federal certification and the actual risk-activities authorisation.
