BASI Adaptive Level 3 ISIA

BASI's professional adaptive ski qualification develops advanced learner analysis, equipment handling, and teaching for different disabilities through separate technical and teaching assessments within its Level 3 ISIA pathway.

What This Qualification Covers

  • The current qualification overview describes teaching learners from beginner to advanced and supporting aspiring Level 1 and 2 instructors. This concerns adaptive skiing; mentoring competence does not establish a current BASI trainer or examiner appointment.
  • The technical specification includes personal mono-ski performance, advanced bi-ski handling, three-track technique, and adaptive movement analysis. The teaching specification also names additional needs and sensory impairment. Check the instructor's actual completed components against the equipment and learner needs of the proposed lesson.
  • An unspecified historical BASI Adaptive Snowsport record, an Alpine qualification, or experience with one item of adaptive equipment is not evidence of this completed professional award. Independent practice, destination-specific recognition, and any issued ISIA credential require their own checks.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The separate technical and teaching courses require BASI Adaptive Ski Level 2. BASI strongly recommends Ski Level 2 or Ski UK Level 2 preparation to improve Alpine understanding and learner analysis; that recommendation is distinct from the stated adaptive entry qualification.
  • The public pathway identifies a Level 1 award in another snowsport as the second-discipline element of Level 3 ISIA. Confirm the full current component and completion requirements with BASI; an individual technical or teaching pass does not establish the whole qualification.
  • The completed professional award, current licence and first-aid or continuing-development requirements, and an actually issued ISIA credential are separate records. Do not infer Adaptive Snowboard or the dedicated Mono-Ski Level 1 qualification from this award title alone.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
