Adaptive snowsport · British Association of Snowsport Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- BASI's current qualification overview describes introducing beginners under the responsibility of a snowsports school or club, at non-mountain facilities or on suitable mountain terrain. That conditional teaching setting is distinct from independent practice or a destination's legal permission.
- The adaptive ski course develops teaching activities for beginner and intermediate disabled skiers. Its broader course content should be distinguished from the introductory award overview; confirm the actual assessed equipment, learner needs, and intended lesson with BASI.
- Entry skiing tasks include parallel skiing, short turns, and carving. Personal Alpine skiing competence is not evidence of a separate Alpine qualification, every adaptive equipment specialism, or the distinct Adaptive Snowboard or Mono-Ski award.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- The course combines adaptive-specific on-snow training and assessment with preparatory online modules. Check current entry requirements and the final award record rather than relying on attendance alone.
- Adaptive Ski Level 2 expands work across equipment and learner needs. Its entry alternatives and assessed components require their own evidence; Level 1 is not that later qualification.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
