What This Qualification Covers

  • BASI's current qualification overview describes introducing beginners under the responsibility of a snowsports school or club, at non-mountain facilities or on suitable mountain terrain. That conditional teaching setting is distinct from independent practice or a destination's legal permission.
  • All candidates take the course from a sit-ski. The course includes teaching activities for beginner and intermediate mono-skiers, personal sit-ski performance, equipment and disability awareness, and safe lesson delivery.
  • The named award is Mono-Ski Level 1. It does not establish qualification across every adaptive equipment discipline, the separate Adaptive Ski Level 1 award, or stand-up Alpine instruction.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The course is designed for independent sit-skiers with physical disabilities or differences, and also welcomes non-disabled candidates. Candidates supply their own sit-ski; check current riding, age, self-loading, self-righting, and support arrangements with BASI.
  • Passing the actual training and assessment leads to the named mono-ski qualification. Experience using a sit-ski, entry eligibility, or attendance alone should not be recorded as the completed award or a broader adaptive qualification.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
