Alpine skiing · British Association of Snowsport Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- The current qualification description limits the certification to assisting competition training within the underlying instructor qualification. The coaching certificate does not extend that qualification's terrain or learner remit by itself.
- The ski coaching course explicitly includes a freestyle focus, with training-objective planning, performance analysis, athlete programmes, and competition preparation. Its public specification does not define a park-feature size or trick limit, so none is inferred here.
- The programme also covers governing bodies, physical preparation, nutrition, and psychology. Ski Freestyle coaching is a named supplementary certificate, not a snowboard award, a complete Level 3 or Level 4 instructor qualification, or a current examiner appointment.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- Entry requires a recognised snowsports instructor qualification and the fitness and competence to descend a black run carrying equipment. Confirm the intended freestyle course focus with BASI when arranging training.
- The coaching course includes assessment. Verify the specifically awarded Ski Freestyle certification and the underlying instructor qualification separately; a race-coaching certificate or course attendance alone is not this outcome.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
