IASI Snowboard Level 1

IASI's first snowboard instructor award is intended for teaching on artificial slopes or in indoor snow domes. Its assessment combines core riding demonstrations with safe, structured lesson delivery.

What This Qualification Covers

  • IASI describes the teaching setting as a closed environment: an artificial slope or indoor snow dome. The award does not by itself establish open-mountain snowboard teaching scope.
  • The published riding criteria include straight running, heel-edge and toe-edge sideslips, falling leaf, first turns and standard linked turns. They also assess short turns, basic carving and introductory freestyle movements as the instructor's own demonstrations.
  • Teaching assessment covers group management, terrain choice, clear communication, adapting lessons for adults and children, and using demonstrations and feedback to build a logical progression. An assessed riding task should not be treated as unrestricted authority to teach that task in any setting.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • Level 1 is the starting award in IASI's snowboard pathway. IASI asks candidates to join as Associate Members once they have chosen a course; check the current entry and completion requirements before booking.
  • Level 2 develops teaching in an open mountain environment through a recognised snowsport school. The change of teaching environment belongs to that later award and should not be read back into Level 1.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
