Snowboarding · Irish Association of Snowsport Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- The teaching examination assesses lessons across core rider development and mountain riding, including adapting to snow and weather, choosing terrain for the learner, analysing video and reviewing other instructors' sessions.
- The separate technical criteria assess adaptable riding across varied snow and terrain, including carved turns, bumps, black-piste riding and terrain-park tasks. These describe the instructor's assessed performance rather than unrestricted off-piste or guiding authorisation.
- IASI describes the completed award as meeting ISIA minimum standards. Verify the full award, any actually issued ISIA Stamp and its current status separately; a teaching or technical exam result alone is not the complete modular qualification.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- IASI identifies freestyle coaching, coaching theory, Off Piste Security, a second discipline and a second language among the supporting elements of its snowboard ISIA pathway. Confirm the complete current module list and entry requirements with IASI.
- The teaching and technical examinations are separate parts of the Snowboard Teacher award. Keep a partial module or exam record distinct from completion of the full Level 3 qualification.
- IASI's overview also names a fourth snowboard level and associates it with the ISIA Card, but the linked course detail centres on Levels 1–3. A Level 3 award does not establish Level 4 completion, a Card, or the Alpine Common Training Test outcome.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
