IASI Snowboard Level 2

IASI's second snowboard instructor award develops on-piste teaching in an open mountain environment for a recognised snowsport school, alongside broader riding and teaching assessments.

Snowboarding · Irish Association of Snowsport Instructors

What This Qualification Covers

  • The official pathway describes on-piste teaching for a recognised snowsport school in the open mountain environment. Independent practice and off-piste authorisation are not established by the Level 2 title alone.
  • The teaching criteria extend beyond core rider development to mountain riding and freestyle sessions. They assess suitable progressions, terrain and weather decisions, video feedback, goal setting and adapting activities to the learner.
  • The instructor's riding assessment covers short turns, carving, switch riding, variable snow, bumps and introductory park skills. These are assessment tasks; their inclusion does not grant permission to teach outside the on-piste school setting described by IASI.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • Level 2 follows the introductory snowboard award and expands the environment in which the instructor is trained to teach. Consult IASI for current entry requirements, experience and course arrangements.
  • Level 3 is a separate modular Snowboard Teacher award with distinct teaching and technical examinations and supporting modules. Completing Level 2 does not establish that later award or an ISIA credential.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
