What This Qualification Covers
- The published 2022/23 criteria assess short turns on red and black pistes, carved and switch turns, variable snow, bumps, steep terrain, and park skills. These are the candidate's assessed riding tasks; their inclusion does not grant unrestricted terrain or off-piste guiding permission.
- Teaching assessment requires advanced sessions suited to the candidate's peers, accurate demonstrations and explanations, movement and video analysis, and feedback adapted to individual learning needs. It also assesses group management, terrain choice, weather decisions, and adjustment of the session as conditions change.
- The older workbook describes planning and delivering all-mountain riding sessions, including freestyle, alongside the complete rider-development progression. This documents the award's teaching and riding standard; it does not establish a current course offering, a trainer or examiner appointment, or the holder's professional permissions in any country.
- The workbook's title associates the complete award with the ISIA Card pathway. Check the actual completed national award and separately issued current ISIA credential; a Level 4 course result or the title on an archived document does not prove Card status.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.
No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.
Training and Progression
- The 2022/23 criteria list the completed IASI Snowboard Level 3 teaching and technical award, valid first aid, and paid-up IASI membership as entry conditions. These describe the published specification rather than a confirmed current intake; ask IASI for current entry and delivery arrangements.
- The January 2021 workbook requires every assessment criterion to be met. The full Level 4 Snowboard Teacher award also requires the project, Level 2 backcountry security award, snowsport-school experience, and first aid. Passing the riding and teaching examination alone does not establish the complete modular award.
- IASI's current public conversion page lists Alpine Level 4, adding snowboard only 'when available', and says its higher-level snowboard pathway and ISIA Card information will be published once confirmed. These older specifications therefore remain archive references, rather than confirmation that a course or conversion route is currently offered.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
