BASI Snowboard Level 4 ISTD

BASI's highest snowboard instructor qualification develops expert, performance-focused teaching and riding. The full ISTD award is separate from passing an individual Level 4 teaching or technical course.

What This Qualification Covers

  • BASI's current qualification list explicitly records Snowboard Level 4 ISTD and describes high-level teaching and performance coaching. The dedicated teaching course develops learner-centred sessions at the highest level of the BASI snowboard system.
  • The separate technical course assesses riding fundamentals across varied terrain and strands, supported by video analysis. Personal performance in a variable-snow strand does not establish unlimited off-piste guiding or a particular country's authorisation.
  • The qualification overview also discusses instructor development and assessment. The holder's actual trainer or examiner appointment and current authority to deliver association assessments must be checked separately from the Level 4 certificate.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The current Level 4 teaching and technical course specifications each require BASI Snowboard Level 3. They are components of the progression; neither course result alone proves completion of the whole Level 4 ISTD qualification.
  • Ask BASI to confirm the full current component and experience requirements and check the final award, current licence, and any separately issued international credential. Alpine Level 4 requirements should not be copied into the snowboard route.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.
