SBINZ Snowboard Level 1

SBINZ's entry snowboard instructor qualification prepares instructors to teach beginners through their first turns on beginner terrain.

Snowboarding · Snowboard Instructors of New Zealand — NZSIA Snowboard Division

What This Qualification Covers

  • The official teaching range is beginners through first turns on beginner terrain. The instructor's own assessment includes blue-terrain riding, switch demonstrations and basic freestyle; those riding tasks should not be substituted for the stated teaching range.
  • This award concerns snowboarding; it does not establish NZSIA ski instructor certification.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The five-day course requires associate or full membership, conversational English, prior riding and basic freestyle skills, and completion of e-learning. The normal minimum age is 16, with an age-exemption application available.
  • The complete award requires riding, teaching, safety and professionalism outcomes. Level 2 develops intermediate teaching beyond this beginner qualification.
