SBINZ Snowboard Trainer Certification

The SBINZ trainer award prepares fully certified snowboard instructors to train resort staff and candidates working towards Level 1 and Level 2 certification.

Snowboarding · Snowboard Instructors of New Zealand — NZSIA Snowboard Division

What This Qualification Covers

  • Training covers clinic delivery, rider analysis, Level 1 and 2 instructor development, Level 3 demonstrations and personal riding improvement.
  • Assessment includes riding demonstrations, freeride and freestyle performance, video analysis and training situations such as teaching instructors how to teach and one-to-one coaching.
  • The complete award requires both teaching and riding outcomes. A retained partial pass is not the full Trainer Certification, and the qualification alone does not establish an examiner appointment.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • Entry requires associate or full NZSIA membership, SBINZ Level 3 or an accepted foreign equivalent, and Snowboard Children's Certification or a foreign equivalent. The trainer online course, including an essay, must be completed at least 48 hours before the workshop.
  • The published format is a five-day workshop and a three-day exam. The teaching and riding halves can be passed separately, with a passed half retained only until the end of the following New Zealand season under the current policy.
