Alpine skiing · Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- The September 2026 standards cover beginner and novice skiers on green and the easiest blue terrain. The national overview describes this as mainly the beginner/novice zone.
- This Alpine ski award is separate from AASI snowboard certification and from adaptive or specialist credentials.
- This is a national instructor certification. It does not establish local professional recognition, immigration permission, or permission to operate independently in another country.

Training and Progression
- Level I is the entry certification in the three-level Alpine pathway. Develop skiing, lesson delivery, and practical teaching experience before progressing to Level II.
- The national Level I route is for existing snowsports instructors who are current members and includes the discipline's Level I e-learning course before on-snow assessment. Regions can impose additional prerequisites.
- Check current membership, teaching-experience, preparation, and assessment-entry requirements with the PSIA-AASI region delivering the event. Booking a course or attending preparation does not by itself establish that the full certification has been awarded.
- The national overview requires current membership and at least six continuing education units each membership year to maintain certified status. An historic certificate alone does not establish that those ongoing requirements are current.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Checked the national certification overview and its linked standards, internally dated September 2026. The standards describe more detailed terrain ranges than the overview; this guide uses those published standards. Regional assessment prerequisites and continuing membership requirements still apply.
