Alpine skiing · Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors
What This Qualification Covers
- The September 2026 standards cover intermediate skiers on blue terrain and some advanced black terrain. This extends the beginner and novice teaching scope of Level I.
- The award records Alpine teaching. A similar level number in another national association or discipline is not an automatic equivalence.
- This is a national instructor certification. It does not establish local professional recognition, immigration permission, or permission to operate independently in another country.
FASS country rules
These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

Training and Progression
- Continue developing skiing and teaching after Level I, using the regional certification pathway to prepare for Level II assessment.
- Level III is the next Alpine certification, with a broader learner and terrain range. A trainer or examiner role remains a separate designation.
- Check current membership, teaching-experience, preparation, and assessment-entry requirements with the PSIA-AASI region delivering the event. Booking a course or attending preparation does not by itself establish that the full certification has been awarded.
- The national overview requires current membership and at least six continuing education units each membership year to maintain certified status. An historic certificate alone does not establish that those ongoing requirements are current.
Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Checked the national certification overview and its linked standards, internally dated September 2026. The standards describe more detailed terrain ranges than the overview; this guide uses those published standards. Regional assessment prerequisites and continuing membership requirements still apply.
