What This Qualification Covers

  • PSIA-AASI describes FS 1 competence as beginner/novice freestyle teaching on extra-small to small park features.
  • Training connects technical understanding and movement analysis with teaching, group decisions and safe use of natural and resort-made features. This guide covers the ski strand of the shared PSIA-AASI programme; snowboard freestyle credentials need their own evidence.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The September 2026 national standards require current PSIA-AASI Level I or equivalent and the ability to ski or ride at that certification level for FS 1. Check the delivering region's additional assessment prerequisites for the ski track.
  • FS 2 extends the feature range through medium features; its September 2026 standard describes teaching through the intermediate-to-advanced zone. A freestyle specialist certificate is distinct from the main numbered instructor award.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Read the official freestyle overview and linked national standards, internally updated September 2026 despite the older filename. The standard describes FS 2 through the intermediate-to-advanced zone, while the overview and some detailed teaching criteria retain intermediate wording. This guide identifies that difference and retains the XS-to-medium feature limit for FS 2.
