PSIA Freestyle Specialist 2

Freestyle Specialist 2 develops freestyle teaching through the intermediate-to-advanced range described in the September 2026 standard, using extra-small to medium terrain-park features.

What This Qualification Covers

  • The September 2026 standard describes FS 2 teaching through the intermediate-to-advanced zone, on blue terrain and extra-small to medium features. The national overview and some teaching criteria still describe intermediate freestyle; check the delivering region's assessment specification.
  • The assessment-based programme combines technical performance, understanding and movement analysis with teaching and people skills. This ski specialist record does not establish snowboard freestyle certification.
  • Large-feature and all-zone competence belongs to the separately described FS 3 standard; it should not be inferred from FS 2.

FASS country rules

These are the active qualification conditions configured on FASS. They do not confirm that a person has met them or has permission to teach. Local professional and immigration requirements still apply.

No active FASS rule is recorded for these qualifications. This does not establish permission to teach or lack of recognition.

Training and Progression

  • The September 2026 standards list current PSIA-AASI Level II or equivalent with performance at that certification level, or successful FS 1, as FS 2 entry routes. Confirm the delivering region's assessment prerequisites for the ski strand.
  • FS 3 is a further published freestyle stage. Specialist certification and the main Alpine instructor levels remain separate records, as do trainer or examiner appointments.

Check the awarding body's current syllabus for entry requirements, course dates, fees, and assessment rules.

Read the official freestyle overview and linked national standards, internally updated September 2026 despite the older filename. The standard describes FS 2 through the intermediate-to-advanced zone, while the overview and some detailed teaching criteria retain intermediate wording. This guide identifies that difference and retains the XS-to-medium feature limit for FS 2.
