Crested Butte

Colorado's Crested Butte is affectionately known as "The Last Great Ski Town." It's a National Historic District celebrated for its painted Victorian buildings and is distinctly separated from the rest of Colorado by three mountain passes. The resort is renowned for its Extreme Limits terrain, which features some of the steepest lift-served skiing in North America.

A convenient free bus service operates between the town of Crested Butte and the mountain, with buses running every 15 minutes. This makes it easy for guests staying in town to access the slopes.

Intermediate Terrain

The front face of Crested Butte features a variety of groomed blue and red runs, perfect for intermediate skiers. For those seeking above-treeline skiing, Paradise Bowl offers an accessible option after a short hike.

Crested Butte provides excellent learning terrain situated at the base of the mountain. The Red Lady Express lift grants easy access to gentle green runs, all while offering picturesque mountain views.

Extreme Limits

Crested Butte is famous for its Extreme Limits terrain, which boasts some of the steepest lift-served skiing on the continent. This challenging area includes runs like Rambo, Banana Funnel, and the Headwall, characterised by mandatory cliffs and pitches reaching up to 50 degrees. The town of Crested Butte, a National Historic District, is located three miles from the mountain. It is generally recommended to stay in town for a more authentic experience, rather than at the base area of the resort.

Crested Butte is included on the Ikon Pass. Its somewhat remote location helps to keep crowds manageable, ensuring a more enjoyable experience even during peak periods.
