Crystal Mountain (Washington)

Crystal Mountain is situated on the northern flanks of Mt. Rainier in the Cascades range. It boasts 2,600 acres of diverse terrain and receives an impressive 486 inches of annual snowfall.

Intermediates will find well-groomed terrain through old-growth forest accessed by the Forest Queen Express and Green Valley chairlifts. The Cascades are known for their heavy snow, often dubbed "Cascade concrete," which is excellent for carving and requires a different technique compared to the light powder found in the Rockies.

Beginner terrain at Crystal Mountain is limited, as the resort generally skews intermediate-to-expert. However, the Discovery area at the base provides a small but functional space for first-timers.

Advanced skiers and riders will find challenging terrain in areas like Northway and Southback, which feature steep chutes, cliff bands, and dedicated backcountry gate access. Silver Basin is particularly noted for holding powder for days after a snowfall.

The Summit House restaurant, located at 2,134m, offers arguably the best view of any restaurant in Washington, with Mt. Rainier filling the entire window.

Crystal Mountain is included on the Ikon Pass.
