A Friendly Pyrenean Resort for Beginners and Confident Intermediates

Gourette, with its impressive landscape os skiing between the imposing cliff faces, is a great place to ski for a day trip if you are an accomplished skier or for longer if you are just getting started. For the beginners (aged 6+) there are some good magic carpets and a chair lift for progression to the blues. For intermediate skiers looking to ski on some red runs there are some good ones to try as they are wide and generally a continuous gradient. There are some more challenging red runs that run through gullies and with some steeper sections but there are general tracks that take an easier route and cut out the harder parts. There is a short steep black but the overall the resort is very intermediate and beginner friendly. Beginners need to take the gondola up the hill to the nursery slopes so it is not ideal for small kids who are only going to ski a few minutes. The village has some nice chalet style buildings and a small Nordic village resort on the mountainside but most of it is large purpose built blocks, whilst practical, it is not overall visually appealing.
