Meet Ian
Ian is an experienced ski instructor, mountain leader, and outdoor professional with a lifelong connection to the mountains. He began climbing at five and skiing at seven, later studying physics at the University of Sheffield before pursuing a career in snowsports.
Since starting his teaching career at Nevis Range in Scotland in 2004, Ian has taught skiing across three continents and is now based in France. He became an International Mountain Leader in 2017 and has guided major European trekking routes, including the Tour du Mont Blanc and the Haute Route.
His qualifications include the Level 4 International Ski Teacher Diploma, International Mountain Leader Award, avalanche and mountain-safety certifications, Freeski Development Coach Level 2, Rock Climbing Instructor, and NNAS Course Director. He speaks English, French, and Spanish, and also writes for 2alpesnet.com and other outdoor websites.
