Meet Simon
Simon Cook, known as 'Cookie', is a full-time ski and snowboard instructor for the French Ski School (ESF) based in Alpe d’Huez in the French Alps. He teaches all abilities, covering both on-piste and off-piste techniques. Simon has been a key rider with Whitedot Skis since 2013, actively contributing to the development and testing of their ski range, including the versatile Altum 94 & 104 and the lightweight Ronde 110 CarbonLite. He describes his preferred skis as 'playful and fun', suitable for all-mountain conditions.
As an experienced off-piste guide, Simon possesses extensive local knowledge of the Alpe d’Huez area, highlighting spots like Pic Blanc for its significant vertical drops and Villard Reculas for its varied terrain suitable for learning powder techniques. He is also familiar with navigating the challenging Chimneys of Marmots and has deep experience in other renowned off-piste destinations such as La Grave and Les Deux Alpes, where he has spent years discovering hidden backcountry routes.
