Appi Kogen

Appi Kogen is recognised as Northern Honshu's premier family resort. It offers a significantly more affordable skiing experience compared to Hokkaido.

Travel to Appi Kogen typically involves taking the Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Morioka, a journey of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. From Morioka, a connecting bus service takes visitors to the resort in about 45 minutes.

The resort is renowned for its snow quality, which is nearly as dry as Hokkaido's. The longest run at Appi Kogen is the Yamabato Course, stretching an impressive 5.5km. Night skiing is available on select runs, allowing for extended time on the slopes.

Terrain for Intermediates

Intermediate skiers will appreciate the well-groomed runs that weave through picturesque birch forests, offering a consistent pitch and stunning mountain views.

Beginners at Appi Kogen will find wide, gentle slopes conveniently located close to the hotels. The resort's dry snow conditions make falls softer, contributing to a more comfortable learning experience.

While Appi Kogen has limited expert terrain, advanced skiers can find ungroomed tree skiing areas between runs that are known to hold excellent powder. For those seeking to explore these more challenging zones, consider consulting an instructor.
