Big Sky Resort boasts "The Biggest Skiing in America" with 5,800 acres of skiable terrain, a vertical drop of 4,350 feet, and an average of just two skiers per acre. The distinctive pyramid of Lone Mountain is visible from afar, promising genuinely challenging terrain.

Intermediate skiers will find beautifully groomed blue runs on Andesite Mountain, accessible via the Ramcharger 8 lift. This cutting-edge lift, America's first 8-person chairlift, offers stunning mountain views. The Ramcharger 8 also features heated seats and a wind-blocking bubble, enhancing the on-mountain experience.

Madison Base Area provides dedicated terrain for beginners. The Explorer Lift and Southern Comfort lift offer easy green runs, allowing new skiers to build confidence in a less crowded environment.

Big Sky's naturally low crowd levels make it inherently family-friendly. Shorter lift lines mean families can enjoy more time skiing together on the slopes.

Lone Mountain is the resort's centrepiece for expert skiers. The tram to its 11,166ft summit provides access to the Big Couloir and other expert-only terrain, featuring pitches up to 50 degrees. An expert guide is recommended for navigating these challenging areas. The Lone Mountain Tram accommodates 15 people; on powder days, it's advisable to be at the tram by 9am to secure a spot. The Big Couloir requires strong confidence in 50-degree terrain for this expert-level guided session from the summit.

Yellowstone National Park is conveniently located an hour away. Snowcoach tours offer an excellent option for a rest day or an alternative activity.
