Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain, a dormant volcano in the Eastern Sierra, offers panoramic views stretching from the Minarets to the White Mountains. As California's largest resort, it boasts over 400 inches of annual snow and a season that regularly extends to June or July.

Intermediate Terrain

Intermediate skiers can enjoy long, groomed runs in the Stump Alley and Face of Five areas. For expansive Sierra views and some of the best blue terrain, head to the Cloud Nine Express lift.

Skiing Specialised Conditions

• Spring skiing coaching: With the resort's extended season, spring conditions are a specialty. A lesson between March and May can teach you how to read and navigate softening snow.

Beginners will find ideal learning terrain in the Schoolyard area, accessible via the Discovery Chair. The Main Lodge base serves as the primary hub for ski lessons and equipment rentals.

Advanced skiers will find challenging terrain from the summit ridgeline, featuring steep drops on all sides, including chutes, bowls, and wind-loaded faces. Notable expert descents include Dave's Run, Climax, and the Dropout Chutes.

To fully experience the upper mountain, consider a Summit introduction with an expert instructor. They can guide you along the summit ridge, offering insights and ensuring you make the most of the panoramic views.

For a relaxing post-ski activity, explore the local hot springs. Wild Willy's and Benton Hot Springs are popular local favourites.

The ski season at Mammoth Mountain regularly extends into June or July, offering one of the longest seasons in California. Spring skiing provides a unique, warm-sun experience with different snow conditions.

Be aware that winds can be brutal, especially on the exposed volcanic peak. Always check conditions before venturing to the upper mountain.
