Five peaks rise above a Victorian gold-mining Main Street, giving Breckenridge a unique charm. It combines serious high-altitude skiing with the feel of a real town. The resort boasts the highest chairlift in North America at 3,962m, and its season stretches impressively from November to May.

The BreckConnect Gondola provides a free and convenient link from town directly to Peak 8, eliminating the need for driving and parking. This easy access to the mountain is a major benefit, especially for families and beginners heading to the mid-mountain area.

Breckenridge offers diverse terrain across its peaks. Peaks 7, 8, and 9 are abundant with well-groomed blue runs, ideal for intermediates. The Four O'Clock Run is the longest in Summit County, spanning 3.5 miles and providing a gentle cruise directly into Main Street. Peak 7 also features sheltered glades for enjoyable tree skiing.

Peak 9's lower mountain is the heartland for beginners. It features gentle green runs and a dedicated learning area. The BreckConnect Gondola provides easy, stress-free access from town directly to mid-mountain, making it simple for first-timers to reach the learning slopes.

Breckenridge stands out as one of Colorado's most family-friendly major resorts. The town is highly walkable, and the BreckConnect Gondola simplifies mountain access. For non-ski days, the Recreation Centre offers a pool and an ice rink, providing great alternative activities for all ages.

For advanced skiers, the terrain gets serious on Peak 6 and in Imperial Bowl above Peak 8. This above-treeline area is exposed and genuinely challenging, offering exhilarating runs. A hike to Lake Chutes rewards with access to steep couloirs, promising an adrenaline-filled experience.

Breckenridge enjoys a long ski season, typically running from November to May. The resort's high altitude ensures that conditions remain good for spring skiing, often longer than many other Colorado resorts, particularly from March to May.

Breckenridge offers PSIA/AASI-certified ski and snowboard programmes catering to ages three through adult. Multi-day children's programmes are highly recommended for building strong progression throughout a holiday.

Breckenridge's base elevation is at 9,600ft (2,926m), which is higher than the summits of many other resorts. Altitude sickness is a real concern; drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and avoid aggressive skiing on your first day. Good instructors are adept at pacing lessons to help you acclimatise on day one.

Breckenridge is part of the Epic Pass network, allowing you to combine your skiing with other renowned resorts such as Vail, Keystone, and Beaver Creek.
